Charlie Bone and the Blue Boa.

By Jenny Nimmo

Write a Summary of the Book:

Dangerous events are starting to bloom around Charlie Bone. While Benjamin Brown and his parents are in Hong Kong, there is a constant fear of Grandma Bone finding Runner Bean. A strange girl called Belle may also be one of these dangers. Along with Uncle Paton gone.

What are your favorite parts of the book

I like the part when Charlie and his friends find out that their teacher, Mr. Boldova is endowed, just like them. I am relieved when Mr. Onimous takes Runner Bean to his pet Café to protect him from Grandma Bone. When Uncle Paton finally arrives home. I am also pleased when Billy Raven helps them talk to the Blue Boa in exchange for his rat friend, Rembrandt. And finally, when they make Ollie Sparks visible again and bring him back home.

Describe your favorite characters; and explain why they are your favourites:

Am I allowed to have favourite characters that are animals? If so, I’d like to say that my favourite character is the Blue Boa. Long ago, the Blue Boa was a very wise and gentle creature. But when the Red King’s oldest son, Borlath, tortured it, the Boa was a terrible and dangerous creature. But with Billy Raven’s understanding words, the poor, dear boa was wise and gentle again. Therefore, the boa is my favourite character.

Write a (small) blurb about this book, to get others interested in reading it too:

There are new dangers and perils blooming around the city. A danger for poor Runner Bean, who must stay in the same house as Grandma Bone without being found out. A mysterious girl with colour-changing eyes, and a secret about an invisible boy in the attics of the Bloor’s Academy. Charlie Bone is in the most danger, along with Uncle Paton gone…

Would you recommend this book? If so. Why?

I like this book, so I will recommend it to anyone who likes adventure.

Midnight for Charlie Bone
By Jenny Nimmo

Write a Summary of the Book:

Charlie Bone is a normal twelve-year-old boy until hear starts hearing voice from photographs that nobody else can. While his mother and his good grandmother, Maisie, are not too happy about this, his evil grandmother and her awful sisters are trilled.

What are your favorite parts of the book?

I am going to start off with the part when Charlie and his friend save Emma Tolly from her terrible fate of hypnotism. When he finds out that he can hear voices from photographs. I think its very sweet of him when he invites Billy Raven over his house for the weekend sometimes. The last is when Charlie allows Gabriel Sick to have his own cloak (Charlie’s) because of Gabriel’s unfortunate endowment.

Describe your favorite character; and explain why:

My favourite characters are Charlie Bone’s friend Olivia Vertigo and Maisie Jones, his good grandmother. [ his mother’s mother.] Olivia Vertigo is a very good actress. She is VERY funny, quite sarcastic, and kind. But she is also EXTREMLY dramatic. (Admittedly, a bit like me). Maisie is the sort of grandmother every grandchild wants. Whenever Charlie comes home from the Bloor’s Academy on weekends, Maisie always has a lovely big roast or something like that ready for him. She is very sweet and kind. She is never mean to Charlie (unlike Grizelda Bone, Charlie’s evil grandmother) and like him, she really does not like Grandma Bone. She absolutely loves her grandson, Charlie and never wanted his evil aunts to send him to Bloor’s Academy.

Write a small blurb about this book, to get others interested in it:

Charlie Bone is a normal twelve-year-old boy until he finds out that he can hear voices from photographs that nobody else can. While his mother and good grandmother, Maisie are not happy about this, his evil grandmother and her equally horrible sisters are absolutely thrilled. With what his awful great aunts and his terrible grandmother have planned for him, he will be lucky to survive until winter.

Would you recommend this book? If so. Why?

I love the whole series and so does my mum. I would recommend the book and the rest of the Charlie Bone series to Harry Potter fans.

Hunger (from the Gone Series)
By Michael Grant

Write a Brief Summary of the Book:

In Perdido Beach, Sam and his friends struggle to stretch the limited food over a hundred starving children and teenagers. The Darkness too, is hungry and

What are your favorite parts of the book:

I don’t really have favourite parts. The whole book is good. I hope that answer is acceptable.

Describe your favorite character; and explain why:

I like everyone, really. They all have their cause and need. The kids in Perdido Beach are the ones I like. Not Caine, obviously. I like Diana. She is like a middle way person. She knows when she has gone too far.

Write a small blurb about this book, to get others interested in it:

Very limited supplies. Many starving children and teens. Sam Temple and the FAYZ government are struggling to keep violence at bay. Sam’s evil brother, Caine in driven into town in attempt to take control with his sidekick Drake, AKA Whip Hand. But deep underground the most terrible danger is hungry.

Would you recommend this book? If so. Why?

I don’t care to say a list of people. Everyone should read these books. To any normal teens reading, therefore you should appreciate your parents or anyone keeping you alive. The starvation in this book would be like World War Two, many starving people, very limited food. Appreciate anything given to you.

GONE
By Michael Grant

A Brief Summary of the Book:
In Perdido Beach, Sam Temple and his classmates are being taught by their teacher, Mr Trentlake, when without warning, he is gone. Everyone over fifteen is gone. But what happens next is crazier then the disappearance of the grown ups. Some of the kids are discovering paranormal powers. Everyone must adapt to this new world while trying to survive an invisible danger.

What are your favorite parts of the book:
I have to say when Sam and some other kids develop powers. Like Sam’s lasers, Little Pete’s teleportation and his Force grappling, as my stepmum Savvy calls it. You know when you like a book even though what is happening isn’t good? I just like it all.

Describe your favorite character; and explain why:
One of my favourite characters is Little Pete because he is autistic, like me. Astrid is another of my favorites. Even though she didn’t have powers, her intelligence made up for it.

Write a small blurb about this book, to get others interested in it:
Without warning, all grown ups and over 15’s in Perdido Beach are gone. Just GONE. Now Sam Temple and the kids of Perdido Beach must adapt to this new grown up free world. But something even more strange is happening. Sam and some other kids are discovering powers developing powers. But as they are beginning to understand, they are unaware of the invisible danger lying in wait.

Would you recommend this book? If so. Why?
I recommend this book to everyone who likes sci-fi and suspense.
